A small Taiwanese aboriginal bamboo flute

I learned to make these flutes in Taiwan. I made some more a few times.

This is a little Taiwanese flute. More precisely, a flute from the Amis Tribe.

There are around twenty aboriginal Taiwanese tribes recognised by their government. The Amis tribe is one of the biggest. Recently some historians started to research their ancestral instruments, prohibited during the Japanese occupation, and the Chiang-Kai-shek dictatorship.

When I visited one of the cultural centers of the Amis tribe. I met an Amis person who proposed to teach me how to make these flutes.

They were used by aborigines, to communicate between mountains.

Like the picks, I decorated one of them with pyrography, but I don't have any pictures of it.
